Parent Advisory
School District 91 Parent Advisory Councils (PACs)
Nechako Lakes School District values our relationship with all partners in the education system. Each of our schools has active Parent Advisory Councils that support a variety of school initiatives. We encourage all parents to become involved with their child’s school community. Please contact your child’s school for more information about your school PAC.
Nechako Lakes School District also has a District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC). The School Act recognizes DPACs as the legislated parent voice at the school district level, representing the collective views of school Parents’ Advisory Councils (PAC) in a school district.
The roles, duties and responsibilities of elected DPAC representatives vary but generally, DPAC representatives:
- Act as a liaison between the PAC and DPAC by attending DPAC meetings
 - Communicate and obtain information to and from PAC
 - Bring forward issues that may be common to more than one school

SD91 DPAC Steps to Resolving Parent Concerns
The District Parent Advisory Council has developed a DPAC Quick Guide to support parents and caregivers when school concerns arise.
SD91 DPAC Considerations for Parent-Friendly Meeting Spaces
The District Parent Advisory Council has worked with schools and district staff to develop common Considerations for Parent-friendly Meeting Spaces for when parents need to meet at school.
DPAC Meetings for the 2024/2025 School Year
The DPAC Executive generally meets on the last Thursday of every 2nd month, with the next meeting scheduled for January 30, 2025 (online). All parents/caregivers are welcome and encouraged to attend!

BC Confederacy of Parent Advisory Councils
The BC Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils (BCCPAC), a registered non-profit and non-partisan charity, represents the parents of 570,000 children attending public schools. As the provincial voice of parents in public schools, they engage, empower and support parents for the success of all learners through collaboration, partnership and education, in a culture of acceptance, inclusion and equity. They are governed by a volunteer board of directors elected annually by the membership which consists of District Parent Advisory Councils (DPAC), and Parent Advisory Councils (PAC).
